Arrels is a foundation in Barcelona who help homeless people. They create a project together with the homeless to bring awareness to their situation. They wanted to recreate their handwriting in a digital way through fonts.
I was brought into the project as a typographer after the inital workshop to translate the letters written on cardboards to digital fonts. I had to trace every single upper and lower case plus the numbers and then recreate nearly 200 letters, symbols and diacritics to reach the OpenType Standard set by Monotype, sponsor and partner of the project.
I recreated two fonts and assisted several other type designers to complete their part of the work.
