How might we

The Company have huge construction projects that sometimes span over several decades and can change drastically over the years as new insights, opinions and legislations come to light. The previous communication with their stakeholders (partners, public and government) was unclear, insufficient and hindered the development of these projects and the stakeholders did not feel trust from the Company.

“How might we create more trust and involvement with the public and partners”

Desired Outcome

Having an increased trust and inclusion amongst their stakeholders to facilitate the development of projects.

The Process

Clarification: The project is still under NDA.

This part of the project started after several strategic sessions with the management and a Brand Sprint. Me (UX Design), a strategist and the product designer went through a design sprint with key stakeholders to better understand and refine the challenge. We also aimed to get more engagement from the internal stakeholders.

“How might we create more trust and involvement with the public and partners” became the focus of the sprint. The outcome of the sprint was a validate prototype that extended the existing website with more interactive and participatory elements.

The development approach was agile based on the Scrum methodology. The projects was kicked off with an initial discovery sprint and then turned into two-week iterative sprints. During the discover sprint we made Empathy Interviews several inhabitants in current developed areas. We created personas and mapped touch points on journeys.

Me and the product owner worked closely during the research, but throughout the process it was important to selectively include and update the development team for a smoother transition into development. The team was updated on the personas characteristic traits and needs. With the product designer we collaborated on creating wireflows from the requirements. Developers were consulted on technical feasibility. Actually, one creative developer was included early in the translation of requirements and pivoted the entire interface (kudos Robin!).

Every two weeks we had a demo with the client and received important feedback. We reviewed the research and tweaked the roadmap.

I left the project before it was released, but I know it’s proceeding in a good way.
